Review
Ductsize is a piece of software that engineers and architects can use to design and calculate the parameters of air ducts, usually used for heating systems and air conditioning. They have been designing this type of installations for years, without using computers. So what’s the advantage of using a computer program like Ductsize? The advantages are almost numberless, but there is one that is perhaps the most important: the graphical integration between the characteristics of ducts and installations and the designing process of a building as a whole.
An important aspect to mention is that Ductsize needs a complement called Drawing Board in order to provide the aforementioned full graphical integration. This complement is available for all the applications developed by Elite Software, so if you use more than one application it will be the “gate” through which they will communicate.
Regarding the duct designing process, Ductsize can use any of the following three methods: static regain, equal friction, and constant velocity. It implements a tree structure to organize the different files used in a project, in such a way you don’t lose track of any of them. To simplify its user’s work, Ductsize includes databases of ducts and fans with all their characteristics and important parameters. Since productivity is essential in this type of computer programs, is important to mention that Ductsize includes tutorials to quickly learn the basics and start working. Needless to say, users have to know the principles of duct designing, otherwise Ductsize won’t be useful.
Ductsize fully integrates with CHVAC and RHVAC, other applications from Elite Software. |
- It supports the Drawing Board feature to input data right from drawings.
- It speeds up the design and calculation process of air ducts.
|
- It's available in English only.
- It's available for Windows platforms only.
- The demo is not fully functional.
